Prep, Cooking and Cleanup
Premium meals tend to have a bit more work involved when it comes to prep, cooking, and cleanup. This is not a downside when the final product results in a delicious meal (which this one did).
Ingredients & Sauces
The ingredients in this meal were fresh and of high quality. We previously had a negative experience with a premium meal featuring beef tenderloin as the main protein (it was probably an end cut, and it was quite grisly & had multiple tendons running throughout). The two cuts of meat we received this time did not have this issue, and the quality was significantly better than what we had previously received (which is why we didn’t upgrade to a premium meal in several months).
Taste
The flavor profile of this meal was excellent and completely balanced. The au poivre sauce was delicious on the quality tenderloin we received, adding just the right amount of depth to the steak. Additionally, the maple sage sweet potatoes were both sweet & fragrant and paired well with the zesty lemony asparagus. Overall, the sides helped elevate and balance the overall dish – and we would almost certainly upgrade to this again.
Rating
As noted, we were a bit apprehensive when upgrading to a beef tenderloin meal after our last experience. However, this was a night and day difference compared to the previous time. We received a high quality cut of steak, and all of the ingredients came together to produce a delicious dish that was worth the price of admission (premium meals are usually an extra $7.99 per serving). We’ll definitely be much less apprehensive the next time we see a meal we want to splurge on.
